Fine Art / Illustration

My work is inspired both by human interaction, love, family and our symbiotic relationship with the natural world.

Using a variety of mediums, I create portraits and compositions using oils, watercolor, graphite, ink, pastels, and whatever else I can get my hands on. I savor learning new techniques and pulling from traditional artistic methods. The more I create from scratch, the closer I feel to my work. My earliest oil paintings were created on hand-stretched canvasses. I prefer to begin with my own gesso made of whiting, rabbit skin glue, and zinc oxide.

As my understanding of the elements that make up my materials deepens, so does my control over the medium. The images I use are sourced from old black and white family photographs, dreams, emotions, imaginings. These highly personal images connect with a universal human story, seeking to awaken interest, inspiration, and make connection with my community.
